Rigel's fleece is amazingly bright with gorgeous crimp and uniformity across his blanket. He came into his own, as we thought he would — garnering championship’s at his 6 last shows! He took 1st, Color Champion, and Best Brightness in the 2023 IFA Fleece Show with a measured AFD of 20.1 from 4 locations in his blanket at 4 years old! He took 1st and Reserve Champion at 2020 VAOBA Expo under Judge Wade Gease in a “...highly impressive and competitive class.” Incidentally, the Champion was his older paternal brother! Rigel then took 1st and RC at 2021 PAOBA Breeders Showcase under Judge Helen Testa, beating out a fine young Val D Lsere offspring (yep—Val Thorens)! He also pulled down the 2021 PAOBA Walking Fleece Color Championship! At 2021 MAPACA, Rigel garnered two Color Championships!
Rigel has a very nice head and boxy frame. His fleece is very uniform and carries all the way through his blanket and down into his extremities. Packed with these genetics and phenotype, we expect him to produce stellar offspring -- and thus far, he has!
Rigel's sire, Leviathan, the son of CCNF Elixir and CCNF Capuchin, one of CCNF's top Snowmass Matrix Majesty daughters, got the attention of the entire staff at CCNF from almost the moment he was born, and is unarguably one of the top crias from their 2015 birth class. He sold to Stillmeadow Farm for an astounding $53K as a juvenile, at the 2016 Parade of Champions Auction. Leviathan went on to amass 10 Championships and a Judge's Choice Banner!

Bell's has produced three gorgeous crias thus far. She stamps her head and frame onto each of them, along with a beautiful crimp style and excellent density. She has plenty of milk and she is an excellent mama. We're expecting another stellar cria in Spring of 2025 from our Irish Meadows' Reputation son, Corteva. Corteva has spectacular fleece, and he's a 9X Champion and Judges Choice winner, too!
Bell's latest cria, Castor, arrived on 11/4/23 -- dark fawn male that looks pretty darn promising! His fleece may be the brightest ever produced here. While we agreed to sell him, we hope to still show him, and we have also retained breeding rights. DEFINITELY going to repeat this breeding, but she's been bred to our newest herdsire, Corteva, for her Spring 2025 cria.
Bells' 2022 cria arrived on 10/2/22 and he's gorgeous!! Her cria, Iapitus, has an extremely dense and curly fleece with those little rolls down the back of his neck! And he has great bone... and that gorgeous head.
Bells of Piana delivered a beautiful fawn female cria out of Snowmass Rock Solid on 7/7/21. She caught the eye of a n excellent farm in Switzerland, but we weren't quite ready to let her go.

Sold, but with retained breedings, and we will show him with his new owner. Congratulations to John and Susan of JLS Alpacas! I absolutely hated to sell this guy, but sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do. Castor is turning out really well, and we couldn’t be more pleased!
So, this guy came a wee bit early along with floppy ears and crooked legs. All of that has straightened out, and his fleece is just amazing! It appears that he has loads of density and crimp. Can’t wait to see him develop! He is promising indeed, but we'd expect nothing else from his dam and sire.
His dam is Snowmass Bells of Piana, a Loro Piana daughter, and her pairing with Man in the Moon's Rigel, a CCNF Leviathan son, is phenomenal! We wanted to turn around and do it again right away, but...Bell's has had two preemies in the Fall two years in a row, so we decided to wait until Spring. Even though both offspring have done very well, it's harder on the humans to tend to preemies when it's cold outside, and we must consider that the weather may have been hard on Bells, too, causing the premature births. Soooo, we wait with anticipation for her next cria to come in Spring 2025. It will be a repeat, for sure!!!
Purchase Terms
Standard industry contracts are used. Breeding quality alpacas come with reproductive and live birth guarantees. You may take possession of your alpacas once the down payment is received and the “contract for purchase” signed by both parties. Transfer of ownership with ARI will not occur until full payment is received.
Financing is available with 25 - 33% down, with up to 24 monthly payments. Buyer must purchase full mortality insurance for alpaca and offspring, if any, naming Man in the Moon Farm LLC as beneficiary on balance due until paid in full. Breedings include 60 day agistment unless otherwise noted. Special pricing often available for multiple alpaca purchases or multiple breeding purchase. Transportation responsibility of buyer.
